But it later became clear that Dulaney had been murdered — by a fellow Marine. The series narrates the investigation of Carol Dulaney on the fate of her son.

"He never imagined what he would discover: a world of drugs, rumored satanic cults and a possible serial killer," says Hulu's description of the series.

The trailer teases the killer's identity, suggesting that he is a cult leader prone to violence and drug dealing.

Unfortunately, all his future aspirations were dashed when he suddenly left the Marine Corps base at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina. If you're intrigued by the details surrounding this case and want to know where Leroy Dulaney was found, we've got you covered.

Keep The Faith Issue 116

Leroy Dulaney, a native of Werton, West Virginia, was stationed as a private in the Navy at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina, at the time of his disappearance. People who knew him described him as a kind and generous person who never hesitated to help others and always greeted everyone with a smile. In addition, Leroy is happily married to his high school sweetheart, Brenda Dulaney, and is close to his family, which includes his mother and two brothers.

Unfortunately, the friendly sailor didn't know that the relationship of making friends would lead to massive disaster. Leroy disappeared from Camp Lejeune on May 23, 1979, to the surprise of his family. When his mother, Carol Dulaney, learned of his disappearance, she took her youngest son, Michael, to a military base. Once at Camp Lejeune, they went from officer to officer looking for Leroy, but were met with zero answers.

Most Army officers were confident that Leroy had gone AWOL, and Carroll quickly realized that the Navy would not put many resources into an investigation. Still refusing to give up, she investigated further and discovered that her son was close friends with two other Marines, Terry Moore and Mark Christopher. After speaking with him and others in Jacksonville, Carol realizes that her son was last seen in the company of another Marine named Mark Fletcher, also known as "Four Eyes".

Unsurprisingly, Mark turned out to be quite low-key, and the show mentioned that he was suspected of being involved in petty crimes. However, Carol went through several sources until she decided to meet her and Michael near their dormitory at Camp Lejeune. When questioned, Mark is reluctant to talk about Leroy, whose behavior seems suspicious. However, before Carol could push any further, he somehow slipped out of her grasp and quickly escaped.

We regret to report that Private Dulaney has not been found alive since he was convicted of Mark Fletcher's murder. On June 3, 1979, police were alerted to an unidentified human body buried in Onslow County. An autopsy determined the man had been shot in the head at point blank range, and law enforcement officials obtained dental records identifying the victim as Marine Ronald Ray Jenkins.

At the same time, a woman in Newport, North Carolina contacted authorities and said she believed her boyfriend, Ben Duvall, was involved in the murder. The woman, identified as BJ Rohweller, was close to her boyfriend Mark Fletcher, a man who was responsible for several murders. Deciding to follow this lead, the police arrested Ben and questioned him about his role in the incident.

It didn't take long for the authorities to break Ben, and he soon admitted that he was with Mark when Ronald was shot. According to Ben, he was driving the vehicle and two others were talking in the back when he heard a sudden bang. Turning, he saw a gun in Mark's hand, but the old man had collapsed with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. Also, although Mark helped bury the body, he claimed that the Marines threatened him and BJ Rohweller with their lives for fear of leaking information.

With such incriminating evidence, the police wasted no time in arresting Mark and indicting him for his role in Ronald's death. He is believed to be part of a satanic cult and is mentioned in the show as having bragged about killing eight people, none of which have been proven. However, when Ronald Ray Jenkins was tried for his murder, he was found guilty of second-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 1980.

Therefore, Ben Duvall pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced accordingly. While Mark faces charges of first degree murder, reports say he is guilty of involuntary manslaughter for the murder of Leroy Dulaney. However, according to prison records, the latter was convicted of second-degree murder in the LeRoy murder trial and is currently spending his days behind bars at the Hyde Correctional Institute in Fairfield, North Carolina.
