Ways To Save Money On Military Deployment
Amendments to the SCRA in Public Law 115-407, Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018, now allow military members to cancel Internet, TV or wireless and/or home phone service without no penalty or go to a new location where the same service is available. not provided, even if you have moved at least 90 days.
To take advantage of this benefit, contact your provider's customer service department and notify them to cancel your services without penalty under the SCRA. You may need to provide copies of your employment documents.
In the past, some states had protections for service members who canceled their Internet, TV and/or phone service before their contract expired - but not all did. The new law now provides these protections across the country.
The law also protects you from fines or being taken to court for breaking into your home or renting a car.

With these changes to the Veterans Benefits and Transition Act of 2018, the law now offers some relief to military members and their families. Most television and Internet providers require a one- or two-year contract to set up service, and often the hidden fees associated with breaking this contract are not clear and can add up to hundreds of dollars.
For example, many providers have cancellation fees (also called early termination fees or ETFs) based on the number of months you have had the service. The closer you are to completing the contract, the lower your cancellation fee. Other Internet and TV providers charge cancellation fees ranging from $120 to $400.
Note that you may have the option to terminate your service. Canceling your service is a good option if you want to continue with your current plan or promotional offer. Whichever way you go, knowing the legal protections under the SCRA is key.
